“We gave Alex and Doucs some particular instruction, because of the threat of Chelsea playing through the lines – and their energy and their quality – and they dealt with that brilliantly,” the Everton Boss remarked after the game.

“It’s a partnership we could see in the future,” Lampard admitted.
The English manager also praised the Super Eagles midfielder for his selflessness and good personality.

“Alex, playing in that number six role, did superb in the game. Because of his attitude, personality and humility, it doesn’t matter where he plays. He doesn’t bat an eyelid at what we ask them to do.”

The game ended 1-0 in favor of Chelsea and Lampard will be banking of his Nigerian star again, when Everton travel to Villa Park to face Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa side on Saturday.
