Man Utd squad numbers available to new signings before transfer deadline
Manchester United are still active in the transfer market as we head towards the September 1 deadline although any new additions have slim pickings when it comes to squad numbers. Bruno Fernandes ’ decision to swap number 18 for his favoured eight leaves just three squad numbers under 21 unclaimed – and one of those is 13.
Goalkeeper Lee Grant took the No.13 shirt after signing from Stoke in 2018. But having failed to make a single Premier League appearance for the club before retiring in May, there will be few takers for a number long considered unlucky.
Fifteen is also available thanks to Andreas Pereira’s move to Fulham, but 18 is no longer up for grabs after Casemiro took the shirt following his move from Real Madrid.
There are four numbers in the 20s still available, starting at 21 which was last allocated to Daniel James.
The number 24, previously held by Timothy Fosu-Mensah, remains free, as do 26 and 27. Those two were originally allocated to Dean Henderson and Alex Telles before their loan departures.
The number 30 is occupied by young goalkeeper Nathan Bishop though there has been talk of a summer departure for the 22-year-old.
Above that, 31 and 32 are unoccupied, as is 35, with Scott McTominay ’s 39 the highest shirt number of the established United first team...TAP.TO.READ MORE.
Emerging youngsters include Charlie Savage at 72 and Zidane Iqbal at 73, with Mateo Mejía holding the highest United squad number at 77.
