Aubameyang hope, Zaha truth, Fofana transfer and multiple Chelsea exits expected before deadline

The summer transfer window closes in less than 48 hours’ time and there is still plenty of work to do for Chelsea co-owner and interim sporting director Todd Boehly

We are now into the final stages of the 2022 summer transfer window – and it’s set to be an extremely busy period behind the scenes for Chelsea. The Blues, who have won two out of their opening four Premier League matches this season, still have a number of players they’re interested in ahead of the deadline.

So far this summer, Chelsea have completed three big-money signings – with Raheem Sterling (£47.5million), Kalidou Koulibaly (£34m) and Marc Cucurella (£62.5m) all arriving at Stamford Bridge.

Despite this, Chelsea co-owner and interim sporting director Todd Boehly is far from done. There are still a number of signings the American and his staff are working on before Thursday’s deadline, as well as multiple players who could still leave the club.

Chelsea remain interested in signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona, with Everton’s Anthony Gordon and Wilfried Zaha also being looked at as Thomas Tuchel looks to bolster his attack. Wesley Fofana looks to all be done, with the Frenchman having had his medical in the United States.

Meanwhile, Chelsea could let a host of players leave the club, either on loan or permanently. Barcelona remain interested in left-back Marcos Alonso, who is deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge.

There’s all that – and so much more – in today’s question and answer session with football.london’s Chelsea writer Bobby Vincent.
