Journalist Simon Phillips has told GiveMeSport that Chelsea could make a late bid to sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester City.
The Blues have already raided the Foxes for their star centre-back Wesley Fofana, with them managing to bring down the price despite the notoriously tough negotiators at the King Power.
However, deadline day is expected to only get busier for the Blues, as they scrap about to find the best possible options to finalise their squad for this season.
Central midfield is an area they will have been hoping they didn’t need to invest in, given the strength they have in that role when everyone’s fit.
However, an injury to N’golo Kante immediately began to expose some weaknesses at the club, with Mateo Kovacic still recovering from his troubles too.
Chelsea could go for Tielemans
This could see the club enter the market late for another midfield option today, with Tielemans being one who is reportedly up for grabs at the right price.
Phillips has said that this may see the Blues make a move for the Belgian, who famously sunk them in the FA Cup final with a sensational long-range goal.

He said: “I’m not going to rule out a surprise name from nowhere.
“Tielemans at Leicester is one that I was told about a few weeks ago but I didn’t really report because it was just whispers. But that could come up because he’s available and he’s a centre midfielder.
“So, that’s definitely one to watch in the final stages of the transfer window, but I can see Chelsea pushing for a new midfielder, purely because of all the injuries.”..TAP.TO.READ MORE.
While the Belgian is certainly not the perfect midfielder for the Blues in their current system, he provides Premier League experience as well as an excellent ability on the ball which could be available at a slashed price.
