JUST IN: Manchester United Manager Erik Ten Hag Praises Arsenal and Mikel Arteta
Arsenal are top of the Premier League after only five games and Erik ten Hag has praised their development under Mikel Arteta.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has lauded the progress Arsenal have made under Mikel Arteta as they prepare to defend their 100 per cent record at Old Trafford.
Arsenal have won all five of their Premier League fixtures this season and are the only one of the 92 Football League teams with a winning start.
Arteta replace Unai Emery as Arsenal coach in November 2019 and led them to an FA Cup win later that season but Arsenal finished eighth in successive seasons.
Despite a chastening start to last term when they lost their first three league games by an aggregate scoreline of 9-0, Arsenal recovered to end the campaign in fifth and two points behind Tottenham.
Arsenal’s investment in the transfer market has been widely praised, with Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and the returning William Saliba having instant impacts.
“I have seen Arsenal, a tough opponent,” Ten Hag said. “They’ve started really well this season and you can see this is a team who are longer together, who have a coach bringing his philosophy to the team, so for us it’s a good test.
“I’m really looking forward to it and we will pick the right XI to start. But as you see, it’s not only a team, we have a squad.
“Today, the subs who came on did really well. I’m happy with that and that’s what we have to construct further.”.TAP.TO.CONTINUE.READING
