Arsenal supporters were suitably impressed with Fabio Vieira’s cameo appearance in the 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.

The Portuguese international came on for the final fifteen minutes at Old Trafford, and he looked calm and composed on the ball, with some neat passes and a couple of measured shots from outside the box.

Fans on Twitter are hoping that Vieira gets his first start for the Gunners when they take on FC Zurich in the Europa League on Thursday evening:

It has been a very frustrating start to Vieira’s Arsenal career. After sealing his £34m move to the Emirates, he could not take any part in pre-season due to a foot injury.

However, the 22-year-old is now back to full fitness, and it will be interesting to see how he fares in Switzerland. Considering the level of the opposition, it will be hoped that he can impress. Whether he will do enough to put pressure on manager Mikel Arteta to start him against Everton on Sunday, though, we shall have to wait and see.
