Xavi’s perfect response on sustainable travel puts PSG duo Mbappe and Galtier to shame
Xavi gave a perfect response when quizzed about sustainable travel, a huge contrast to the sarcastic answer given by Paris Saint Germain boss Christophe Galtier.
French champions PSG have been criticised after they chose to travel by plane for a short trip to play Nantes in Ligue 1.
During the press conference ahead of PSG’s Champions League clash with Juventus, manager Galtier and star player Kylian Mbappe were asked about whether the team would consider travelling by train for short journeys to help combat climate change.
In response to the question, Mbappe and Galtier burst out laughing, the manager went on to give a sarcastic answer.
He said: “To be very honest with you, this morning we spoke with the company that organises our trips, and we’re trying to see if we can travel by sand yacht.”
The response was criticised by many who felt Galtier and Mbappe showed a complete lack of awareness.
Barcelona manager Xavi was quizzed on the same issue after this side’s 5-1 Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday night.
According Spanish news outlet Marca, Xavi said: “We cannot be in a different bubble to that of society. Ultimately, we have to look out for the good of the people. We play for the people.”
“If the government or the Generalitat [Catalan government] propose it to us, as a minimum, we would listen to them and we would consider it.”
“With all the humility in the world, if we can do things to change society, we will do so. That is why Barcelona is more than a club. We would do it for certain. Vamos, for sure.”
It is believed that the Camp Nou club tend to fly to most of their away games, however, they do take the train on occasions for their trips to the North of Spain to face teams such as Real Zaragoza, Huesca and Osasuna.
Xavi’s side have had a promising start to their season. They are second in the La Liga table with ten points, two behind leaders Real Madrid..TAP.TO.CONTINUE.READING
