Arsenal star sends 4-word message to Marquinhos on Instagram after his goal and assist on debut

Arsenal defender Gabriel has congratulated his Brazilian countryman Marquinhos on a goal and assist on his debut.

The winger arrived at the club in the summer but has to be patient as he has not played a single minute in the Premier League yet.

He was handed the opportunity in Arsenal’s Europa League opener against Zurich last night and took his chance to impress.

He opened the scoring on 16 minutes and then laid on Eddie Nketiah’s winning goal just past the hour mark after the Englishman had given away a penalty which allowed the hosts to equalise.

Gabriel congratulates Marquinhos on Arsenal debut

Marquinhos took to Twitter after the game to celebrate his dream debut and when translated, his message read: “God is wonderful.

“Dream come true to debut with this giant shirt, very happy for the goal and the victory… just the beginning, let’s go!”

There were plenty of messages of congratulation in the replies, most notably from his Gunners teammate Gabriel.

As per WhoScored, Marquinhos laid on four key passes in his first Arsenal outing, a tally only bettered by Granit Xhaka on the night.

His goal was one of two shots on goal as the winger showed an exciting glimpse of what could be to come in a red and white shirt.

The next step for him is to force his way into the reckoning for the Premier League matches, and replicate those performances there.
