Whelan swipes at Salah after what he’s just seen at Liverpool
Noel Whelan has suggested the form of Liverpool could hinge on Mohamed Salah re-finding his “magic”.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 30-year-old must now show the Reds why they chose him over Sadio Mane.
Salah has managed just two goals in the first seven games of the 2022-23 season since penning a fresh three-year contract.

Sources told Football Insider (2 June) that the contract is worth a stunning £400,000-a-week and, in wages alone, will cost the club £62.4million.
The Merseysiders have notched just nine points from their first six games of the Premier League season.
Salah has notched 159 goals and 66 assists across 262 games for Liverpool.
Whelan claimed the 83-cap Egypt international “looks a shadow of himself right now”.
He told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “He’s set expectations now with his performances over the last four or five years.
“I think he’s got to find his form and find it quickly.
“When you’re out of form sometimes you just need a tap-in. Sometimes, it looks like he’s doing too much. Sometimes, he looks like he’s doing too little.
