Who was the 25 y/o that spent 7 years at Man City without an appearance? [Opinion]
Manchester City quietly released Thomas Agyepong at the end of his contract this summer, ending a seven-year association with the club. The 25-year-old never made an appearance for City, instead being loaned out season after season, so little was known about him.
Agyepong still appears to be a free agent according to Transfermarkt and was having trials at a number of Belgian clubs before the new season began, so his future post-City is up in the air.
Where will Manchester City finish in the Premier League this season?
The left-winger joined City from Ghana’s Right to Dream academy in 2015 and was immediately loaned out to Twente FC (2015/16) where he made 14 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal.
After returning to City over the summer, he was sent back out on loan to NAC Breda (2016-2018) and made 45 appearances, scoring three goals with four assists. Agyepong would then spend the following season at Hibernian (2018/19) and scored one goal in 10 games.
The Ghanaian international was loaned out to SK Beveren (2019/20) and made 15 appearances without a goal or assist. His last loan was a two-year stint at City Group side Lommel SK (2020-2022) and saw Agyepong feature just 13 times..TAP.TO.CONTINUE.READING
City didn’t deem him worth keeping beyond the summer and no clubs came in for Agyepong after his six goals and five assists from 97 appearances, so he may be in the wilderness right now.
