Gunners Transfer Rumours: Leading race for Turkish attacker, Battle for Spanish defender, Danish striker on the radar
Fenerbahce have placed a €25m price tag on playmaker Arda Guler. Liverpool and Arsenal are keen on signing the 17-year-old attacker, who has been touted as Mesut Ozil’s long-term heir. The market has picked up the pace, with big teams plucking out top youngsters from smaller teams.
English teams, in particular, have seen an influx of moves for youngsters who are touted as possible superstars of the future. The big English teams have been keen on adding prodigious talents to their Under-19, Under-23 and first teams and have extensively scouted teenagers from all over the world.
For example, Arsenal recently signed Sao Paulo attacker Marquinhos for a small fee, while Liverpool and Man City have done similar business. One footballer on the radar of clubs such as Arsenal and Liverpool is Fenerbahce star Arda Guler, who had his breakthrough campaign with the Turkish giants in 2021/22.
The Turkish attacker’s displays have made him one of the most sought-after talents in Europe. The Turkish club have set a €25m price tag on Arda after reportedly receiving a bid from Lyon worth only €10m. The Turkish club know the qualities of their talent and do not want to let him leave on the cheap.
The price tag seems reasonable financially, with heavy interest coming from PL teams. The Gunners have been keen on signing the Turkish attacker, as the Spanish manager wants to add more talented teenagers to the setup below the first team.
Arsenal and Newcastle United are ready to battle it out to add Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo in winter. Alex was strongly linked with a move away from Benfica during the summer transfer window, but a move failed to materialise. Grimaldo is into his eighth campaign with Benfica, after joining from Barcelona as a teenager.
Despite staying at Benfica beyond the summer transfer window, the 26-year-old defender could still leave the Eagles, with a winter move being lined up by both Arsenal and Newcastle United. The Spanish defender could be available for only €10m in winter.
The Magpies could also be in the market for a new left-back, with Eddie Howe potentially looking for competition for Matthew Targett. Due to the injury record of Kieran Tierney, bringing in a new left-back could be of interest to the London club, especially at the reported price of only €10m.
Oleksandr Zinchenko was brought in during the summer, but the Spanish boss may look to move him into a midfield role in the future, where he began his career. However, should Arsenal want to win the battle for the Spaniard’s signature, the report adds that they will have to fend off interest from Juventus in winter.
Allegri could be on the lookout for a new left-back if Alex Sandro departs the Bianconeri on a free transfer at the end of the campaign, which would open up space for Alejandro Grimaldo to join.
Wolfsburg centre-forward Jonas Wind has admitted that his dream is to play for Arsenal in the future. Denmark international moved to Bundesliga giants from Copenhagen in winter and scored five goals in 14 games for the club. However, Wind is already eyeing up his next move and says his perfect move would be to join the London giants.
‘If we look into the future, Arsenal would be a dream destination for me, as it has always been my favourite club,’ Jonas said. ‘In general, I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and it would be exciting to play there. But as I said, that’s not what I’m focusing on at the moment.’
‘I’m doing well here in Wolfsburg, it’s a good club for me, and the Bundesliga is a great league to play in.’ The 23-year-old centre-forward has hit five goals in fifteen matches for the Danish national team and is looking forward to making an impression at the World Cup in November.
Denmark have been drawn into Group D with France, Australia and Tunisia. The Gunners splashed out £45m on Gabriel Jesus this summer, so a new striker would unlikely be on the Spanish manager’s radar. However, the Danish centre-forward would present a different option for Mikel Arteta.
It has been a stuttering start to the campaign for Jonas, who has been struck down with a hamstring injury. But Wind hopes to be back after the international break to make sure he is set for Denmark’s World Cup bid.
