Osimhen, who recently sealed a permanent switch from Napoli after a record-breaking loan spell, appeared visibly frustrated with Akgün during one attacking sequence. His response quickly became a talking point in the post-match analysis.
Former Turkish international Nihat Kahveci weighed in on the incident, suggesting Osimhen’s outburst reflected the growing challenge of managing a Galatasaray squad brimming with attacking stars.
Speaking on Kontraspor’s YouTube channel, Kahveci remarked: “When Icardi is physically ready, we will watch the two of them play together up front in the Super Lig. But would Osimhen shout at Icardi if he doesn’t pass the ball? He cannot. Icardi is the captain, the leader, the king. These are what I would call Galatasaray’s sweet problems.”
Kahveci, who represented Turkey over 60 times before turning to punditry, stressed that the clash of emotions was not a crisis but rather a reflection of the high standards inside the Galatasaray dressing room.
Osimhen’s arrival in Istanbul has already raised expectations. After scoring an astonishing 37 goals across competitions last season, the Super Eagles forward became a big-name signing as Galatasaray chase a fourth consecutive Super Lig crown this season.
His partnership with Mauro Icardi is widely seen as the main bite of Okan Buruk’s title push. With the Argentine captain working his way back to full fitness, anticipation is building around the duo’s chemistry in attack.
Adding further intrigue to Galatasaray’s frontline is the summer signing of Leroy Sané from Bayern Munich and the rise of Baris Yilmaz, giving Buruk enviable attacking depth, but also the delicate task of managing egos and expectations.
