Some African rituals are so irritating and upsetting in a peculiar sense that one begins to wonder what the point of them is in the first place. Consider the scenario of giving birth to a lovely new baby and then tightly wrapping its head in garments to force it to acquire a new shape.
They have a form that makes them much more of a laughing stock than they already are. Unfortunately, even with the arrival of the white man and the development of civilisation, this barbaric conduct continues to be practiced. Congolese of the Mangbetu ethnic group have a long-standing tradition of performing this ritual for their kin.
They have a practice of tying the head of a freshly born baby firmly with a wrapper or fabric in order for the head to be extended and form a cone-like shape, which they call “cone-tying.”
it amusing? They name it “Lipombo,” and it serves as a symbol of attractiveness to these people. Apparently, they believe that elongating their heads makes them appear more lovely and unique, which is amazing to think about.
