A registered nurse in Kwara State has petitioned the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), alleging sustained harassment, intimidation, and physical assault by senior health officers in Oke Ero Local Government.

In a formal complaint addressed to the state chapter of NANNM, Nurse Rufus Favour Mojisola, posted to Ekan Primary Health Centre as the sole registered nurse, claimed she was humiliated, slapped, and forced to kneel for hours by her superiors despite her dedication to patient care.

According to the petition, the Officer in Charge of the facility, Mrs. Ayinde Risikat, a Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW), and the Head of Department of Health, Mrs. Helen Bosede Olawuyi, allegedly conspired against her out of “envy and jealousy.”

Mojisola narrated that on September 9, 2025, she was ordered to kneel in her uniform for two hours inside the HOD’s office, before being slapped.

The following day, she was allegedly assaulted again in the office of the Local Government Chairman.

A query with 11 charges was also issued against her, along with a transfer letter to a remote facility she described as unsafe due to security concerns.

She further alleged repeated verbal abuse during immunisation exercises, claiming the OIC insulted and cursed her in front of patients, describing her as “lazy and proud.”

The petition also raised concerns over poor sanitary practices at the facility, including the reuse of syringes after rinsing with water and the absence of sterilisation equipment such as an autoclave.

Mojisola accused the health officers of undermining her role as a nurse, saying she was forced to perform duties outside her professional scope, including sweeping, despite the presence of an attendant.

The statement read, “I, Rufus Favour Mojisola, am writing to bring to your urgent attention the harrowing and traumatic experiences I endured at my place of work in Oke Ero Local Government where I was posted to Ekan Primary Health Center. I am the only Registered Nurse amidst the staff. The Officer in Charge (OIC), Ayinde Risikat, is a Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW). I serve as both the Family Planning provider and Immunization provider.

“The OIC, driven by cruel jealousy and envy, conspired against me with the Head of Department (HOD) of Health, Helen Bosede Olawuyi, who is also a CHEW. I desire it to be documented that a Community Health Officer, Kardiri Fehintola CHO, was posted together with me to the facility but she was transferred to Offa local Government since April and she was not replaced till date now. I was carrying the overwhelming loads of the hospital both Routine Immunization and Family Planning. I am the only one living in the Village where that facility is located amidst staff.

“On Tuesday, 9th September 2025, I was cruelly asked to kneel down on uniform for 2 hours in the HOD’s office to plead with my OIC. The HOD, Helen Bosede Olawuyi, brutally slapped me in her office. On Wednesday, 10th September 2025, the HOD, Helen Bosede Olawuyi, slapped me again in the Chairman’s office. A query letter was issued on Wednesday, 10th September 2025 at Oke Ero HOD Health’s office with 11 questions that I believe are untrue and part of the harassment. I was also issued a transfer letter to a remote location where security concerns due to kidnappers are a significant issue.

“On Tuesdays, our fixed immunisation days (Tuesday 8th April, 2025, Tuesday 6th May, 2025, Tuesday 17th June, 2025, Tuesday 8th July, 2025), during immunization in the reception, the OIC used abusive words on me in front of patients. The OIC’s complaint against me was that I am “very lazy and proud.” My OIC was raining curses and abusive words (“you are mad, you cannot be useful to your parents”) on me in the presence of patients the said dates and days mentioned above. She told me that since I have been vaccinating the children, none came back with Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI), but she will ensure that I make mistakes that will lead to amputating the children’s leg, and by then I will know that I’m a Nurse and not a CHEW.”

According to her, “The OIC wears nylon gloves to take delivery. The facility did not have an autoclave, steriliser, or dressing equipment. They store used syringes, rinse them with water, and reuse them for different patients. These were areas I tried to correct, and the OIC said I am proud.

“The HOD told me that there’s no room for Nurses in Local Government; if I cannot sweep the Clinic, whereas they have an attendant. After vaccination, I write the immunization Registers, Tally, Summary, and immunization cards, despite the presence of a record officer, Mrs. Adebayo Modupe Idowu, who comes to work by 12pm and leaves by 2pm.

“I seek urgent intervention and assistance from the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Kwara State, to address this grave injustice. I believe I have been cruelly cheated and subjected to physical assault due to envy and jealousy from the CHEWs and their Chairman.

” I passionately request that NANNM, Kwara State, takes cognizance of this complaint and helps in ensuring that my rights as a Registered Nurse are protected and that appropriate actions are taken against those who have acted unprofessionally and abusively towards me,” she added..For More Details,Originally Continue D Reading

National Pension Commission (PenCom) changes price disclosure rule

Published

on

National Pension Commission (PenCom) has directed Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) to discontinue the publication of daily unit prices for Retirement Savings Account (RSA) and Retiree Funds on their websites, replacing the requirement with a six-month disclosure of returns based on a three-year rolling average.

The directive was contained in a circular issued by the commission.

Under the new guideline, PFAs must stop implementing Section 2.0 (iv) of the Commission’s March 23, 2013 circular, which required them to display daily unit prices for the last seven days.

Instead, they are to publish on their websites the last six months’ rate of return — calculated as a 36-month compounded rolling average in line with the Circular for the Calculation and Reporting of Rate of Returns by Licensed Pension Fund Operators (LPFOs).

According to the commission, the rate of return must be clearly displayed on the homepage of each PFA’s website.

For instance, the six-month disclosure covering April to September 2025 would reflect the 36-month compounded returns ending in each of those months.

This has however raised transparency concerns in the pension industry.

The 2013 circular on Minimum Information to be displayed on PFA Websites formed part of PenCom’s transparency framework for the Contributory Pension Scheme.

The latest addendum modifies that requirement but does not remove PFAs’ obligation to disclose performance information.

Industry watchers say the development may reignite debate over the balance between long-term investment reporting and real-time transparency in Nigeria’s pension industry.

All enquiries on the addendum, the Commission said, should be directed to its Surveillance Department.

An industry analyst who does not want her name mentioned said the move could reduce contributors’ access to real-time performance data.

She said: “Daily unit prices allowed RSA holders to independently track short-term movements and detect fluctuations in fund valuation.

“With only a three-year rolling average now required, contributors will no longer see recent performance in isolation”, she noted.

The analyst added that while pension funds are long-term vehicles, removing daily disclosure raises concerns about information asymmetry.

“PFAs will still compute daily valuations internally. The issue is whether contributors should be denied access to data that already exists,” the analyst said.

However, another pension expert defended the directive, noting that pensions are structured for long-term accumulation and should be assessed over extended periods.

“A 36-month rolling average smooth’s out short-term volatility and provides a more accurate reflection of sustained performance,” the expert said, warning that excessive focus on daily fluctuations could encourage reactionary fund switching.

Dollar edges higher against the naira in black market trading Dollar edges higher against the naira in black market trading

The United States dollar at the parallel market increased in value on Monday, Febuary 23 with traders quote at N1,375/$ as the new selling exchange rate.

The new rate is a slight depreciation for the naira when compared to N1,343 a dollar market closed on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Abdulahhi, a forex dealer, told Legit.ng that the new exchange rate follows renew demand in the market.

“I am currently selling dollars at N1,375/$1 and buying at N1,355/$1. The pound is trading at N1,845 to sell and N1,805 to buy, while the euro is also moving steadily in the market.

“It seems this week the dollar will return to over N1,400. I have been getting a lot of request.”

The fall of the naira comes as BDC operators continue to face difficulties in accessing dollars from commercial banks.

BDCs can get dollar

The apex bank had previously issued a circular allowing licensed BDCs to access foreign exchange through authorised dealers at the prevailing market rate.

Under the directive, each BDC is permitted to purchase up to $150,000 weekly, subject to Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements and due diligence checks, Punch reports.

Leadership reported that despite a policy announcement, some operators disclosed that no transactions have been completed under the new arrangement.

A BDC operator, who requested anonymity, said the directive remains largely unimplemented. According to him, the circular provides that disbursements will be made through settlement accounts, a provision that has raised operational concerns.

He questioned the feasibility of seamless, real-time transfers between domiciliary accounts across different banks, noting that such infrastructure may not yet be fully in place.

The operator added that while commercial banks appear supportive of the policy, many are still developing internal processes to align with the CBN’s directive.

He explained that BDCs are required to submit bid orders through their banks, which would then access the market on their behalf.

Naira in the official market

Meanwhile, in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM), the naira closed against the US dollar on Friday, February 20 at N1,346.32/$1 from N1,341.35/$1 a day earlier.

At the GTBank FX desk, the naira weakened by N7 against the dollar to quote N1,356/$1.
