EFCC Declares Chinese National Wanted for Alleged Fraud in Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Peiyuan Niu, a 40-year-old Chinese national, wanted over an alleged case of obtaining money by false pretence. In a public notice by spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the EFCC stated Niu’s last known address is 111 Kudirat Abiola Way, Oregun, Lagos State.For more, Read Full; Original.

The agency urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact any EFCC office nationwide via phone or email. This is not the first time Chinese nationals have been linked to fraud in Nigeria. In December 2024, the EFCC carried out its largest single-day operation in Lagos, arresting 792 suspects, including 114 Chinese nationals, 40 Filipinos, and others, in a crackdown on cryptocurrency and romance scam networks. Some of those suspects have since been convicted.
