Juventus outcast Dusan Vlahovic backed to sign for Manchester United and told he is better than Erling Haaland and Victor Osimhen

Vlahovic may leave Juventus
Told to go to United or AC Milan
Vlahovic “better than Haaland and Osimhen”

WHAT HAPPENED?

Vlahovic may be on the search for a new club this summer after declining to extend his contract beyond 2026, according to a report by Football Italia. Former Juventus and Serbia & Montenegro striker Darko Kovacevic gave his opinion on Vlahovic and where his next destination may be, stating he believes United and AC Milan would be good options for the former Fiorentina forward.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Vlahovic was signed for around €80 million (£69.3m/$93.5m) in 2022 and has scored goals for the Old Lady, netting 58 in 145 games. Despite this, he has found himself losing influence within the squad and is now reportedly ready for pastures new.

WHAT KOVACEVIC SAID

Kovacevic, currently sporting director at Olympiacos, told Gazetta: “I’d tell Dusan to move right away. It’s not easy to leave Juventus, and I say that from personal experience. However, sometimes you need to challenge yourself again to be happy and reach the top level. Someone like Vlahovic should always be a starter, whether at Juventus or elsewhere.

“We can’t afford him at Olympiacos, but Milan or Manchester United could be good options for Dusan. Maybe even Nottingham Forest. Just joking, we share the same ownership, but I only work for Olympiacos.

“Cabella, a former teammate of [new Juventus signing Jonathan] David at Lille, spoke very highly of the Canadian. David is a true centre-forward; he’s never scored fewer than 25 goals in recent seasons with Lille. But I’d always pick Vlahovic, I’d even prefer him to Haaland, and I’d say the same about Osimhen, even if I can see him doing well in black and white.”

WHAT NEXT FOR VLAHOVIC?

Links between Vlahovic and United are still in their early stages, but the Red Devils are certainly in the market for a striker this summer and Vlahovic could be the answer. A new-look front three of Matheus Cunha, top target Bryan Mbeumo and Vlahovic could strike fear into Premier League defences next season. But Vlahovic’s options remain open, particularly if his Juventus contract is ripped up and he can depart for free.

Osimhen: Why Bayern Munich officials watched Super Eagles star vs Juventus

Published

on

Bayern Munich officials were in attendance to closely monitor Victor Osimhen during Galatasaray’s 5-2 Champions League win against Juventus, Soccernet.ng reports.

This is as the German champions continue planning for the future of their attack.

Bayern are understood to be searching for a long-term elite striker despite already having experienced options.

England captain Harry Kane remains one of Europe’s most reliable finishers, recently reaching 500 career goals. However, at 32, the former Tottenham forward cannot provide the same pressing energy Bayern desire for the next phase of their project.

Senegal international Nicolas Jackson, currently on loan in Munich, has struggled to convince and is expected to return to Chelsea at the end of the season. That situation has pushed Bayern’s recruitment team to explore other high-level options ahead of the summer transfer window.

Osimhen has therefore emerged as one of the names under serious consideration.

The Nigerian striker has enjoyed another outstanding season since completing a €75 million permanent move from Napoli. After earlier success at Lille OSC and leading Napoli to a historic Serie A title, he has continued to build his reputation as one of Europe’s most complete forwards.

Bayern scouts travelled to RAMS Park in Istanbul to watch Osimhen up close during Galatasaray’s dramatic Champions League play-off victory.

Although he did not score, the Super Eagles forward delivered a performance that highlighted why he is so highly rated across Europe. Osimhen assisted two goals and constantly unsettled Juventus’ defence with aggressive pressing and tireless movement.

His pressure forced an early error that led to Gabriel Sara opening the scoring after 15 minutes. Later, with Juventus reduced to ten men and the match finely balanced, another Osimhen press allowed Noa Lang to extend Galatasaray’s lead.

Moments afterwards, continued pressure from the Nigerian striker created the opportunity for Sacha Boey to score the fifth goal; a historic night that saw a Turkish side score five goals in the Champions League against Juventus for the first time.

Bayern were not the only observers impressed. Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are also reported to be monitoring the 2023 African Footballer of the Year.

Galatasaray, though, remain in control of the situation. The Turkish champions are reluctant to sell their star striker unless an exceptional offer arrives. This means Europe’s biggest clubs may soon be competing for one of the continent’s most decisive forwards.

‘They’re a racist country’ – Fela Kuti’s son reacts to Vinicius Jr altercation with Benfica’s…

Fela Kuti’s son, Seun, has weighed in on the racist remarks made to Vinicius Jr by Benfica and Argentine midfielder Gianluca Prestianni in the UEFA Champions League play-offs, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Brazilian winger scored the only goal of the game at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, sending the ball into Anatoliy Trubin’s top corner in the 50th minute.

Vinicius then hit the dancing steps to celebrate his goal, towards the corner flag where the Benfica home fans were seated, and he was booed.

French referee Francois Letexier issued a yellow card to the 25-year-old, and the decision didn’t sit well with the two-time UEFA Champions League winner.

In the middle of the ex-Flamengo man protesting the referees’ decision as Benfica prepared to restart the game, Gianluca Prestianni put his shirt over his mouth and allegedly muttered the word ‘mono’, meaning monkey, to Vinicius Jr.

Immediately, he took off, racing towards the referee who revealed there was a racist remark in the spectacle, and after a few minutes, Vini made his way to the dugout to remove himself from the situation.

Play resumed after 10 minutes, but was halted a little longer with Mbappe showing his displeasure towards Prestianni, screaming the words ‘you’re a f***ing racist.’

An afrobeats artist, a vocalist and a trumpeter, just like his father, but that wasn’t all Seun inherited, the 43-year-old is also very vocal concerning civil issues, a situation that landed Fela in jail several times.

Seun Kuti took to his Instagram page to air his grievances about racism as a whole, but not just that, he also mentioned how several people allow issues like this press on unnoticed.

Seun Kuti also faulted Jose Mourinho, who claimed Vinicius’ excessive celebrations antagonised the Benfica fans.

“Did you hear what Jose Mourinho said? Jose is one of the most loved coaches in the world. Nigerians love him, Ghanaians love him, but he said it’s Vini’s fault, asking why he would celebrate to offend the fans.

“That’s Mourinho, he didn’t know when it jumped out. Who would’ve thought that Mourinho was complicit?

“What I would say is that black people who are in Europe only take racism seriously when it happens to them, because they believe that they’re above their people.

“All the black footballers and pundits who have spoken against it are not angry; they’re just disappointed, even Mbappe. There’s a difference.

INEOS Chairman, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, owner of about 30% of the Manchester United stake, recently stated that the overpopulation of the United Kingdom is due to the high number of immigrants in the country, and Seun revealed his words convey racial undertones, considering he employs foreigners to play for his club.
“Last week, the owner of Manchester United said some of the most vile racist things ever. The number he gave was wrong; it’s an anti-immigrant, racist rhetoric.

“He insulted poor people and immigrants, even though his teams have immigrants, yet none of his players said anything. None of the black, rich footballers said anything; they were quiet.

“They feel they’re not part of it, but once they’re racially abused, they expect it to be everyone’s problem. It should have been unacceptable when Ratcliffe said it,” Seun Kuti concluded.

UEFA have announced there’s an investigation ongoing, but in the meantime, Kylian Mbappe, Thierry Henry, Micah Richards and other notable football personnel have condemned Prestianni’s act, alongside Mourinho’s comments.
