Naija News reports that the President will return to Abuja on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, to resume official duties.
This was disclosed in a statement on Monday by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The President departed for France on September 4, 2025, to spend part of his annual holiday and was initially scheduled to divide the period between France and the United Kingdom.
Last week in Paris, President Tinubu held a private luncheon with his French counterpart, President Emmanuel Macron, at the Élysée Palace. Both leaders reviewed key areas of cooperation between Nigeria and France and agreed to deepen the partnership for mutual prosperity and global stability.
Meanwhile, a former spokesperson to erstwhile Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Segun Sowunmi, has applauded President Bola Tinubu for his decision to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television on Monday, he asserted that Tinubu’s decision shows his leadership qualities.
He argued that there was no other alternative on the table apart from declaring a state of emergency.
Sowunmi said, “President Tinubu demonstrated leadership by declaring a state of emergency in Rivers State.
“In this particular Rivers case, I do not see any other alternative except, of course, if we were told that the court agreed with the governor’s side of the Assembly, which naturally means that the other guys would have to move away, but the court did not.
“Over and above that, the court also said that there was no appropriate budget that they could spend.
“The truth of the matter is that it is one of the decisions the president took that showed that he can lead because he stepped in.”
