The White House attempted to dismiss speculation that President Donald Trump is receiving treatment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as rumours regarding his health erupted online on Saturday.
The Republican president’s wellbeing has remained a significant focus throughout his second term, with Americans examining his numerous public gaffes, apparent physical constraints, and reported medical issues. Speculation about the visit emerged after the White House announced at 11:08am on Saturday that the president would not be making any public appearances for the remainder of the day. It’s an uncommon decision for President Trump as he typically heads to Mar-a-Lago for golf at weekends.
Trump’s personal spokesman, Steven Cheung, posted on X: “There has never been a President who has worked harder for the American people than President Trump. On this Easter weekend, he has been working nonstop in the White House and Oval Office. God Bless him.”

The US National Institutes of Health (NIH) states that MRI scans are particularly useful for assessing soft tissues, as they employ powerful magnetic fields to generate images of a patient’s internal organs.
The White House announced in 2025 that Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed that Trump’s physician identified the condition after noticing swelling in his legs.
Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when leg veins fail to return blood to the heart, causing it to pool in the lower limbs. Barbabella described the condition as “benign and common” amongst older individuals.
Trump had also recently been spotted wearing cosmetic patches on the back of his hand. The White House attributed the bruising to repeated handshaking, insisting it bears no relation to the vein condition.
