According to NAFDAC, the counterfeit products can be identified by several tell-tale signs. The fake packaging features a smaller PIN verification sticker with a misspelling of “Verify” as “Veify,” whereas authentic stickers are larger and clear. Additionally, the counterfeit pack erroneously states “Distnibuted in Nigeria” instead of “Distributed in Nigeria.”..READ FULL; FROM THE SOURCE.

The agency emphasized the serious health risks posed by these falsified medicines. Such counterfeit drugs may contain harmful or substandard ingredients, incorrect dosages, or unsafe manufacturing practices. These issues can lead to contraceptive failure, toxic contamination, unpredictable side effects, and long-term reproductive health complications. In some cases, counterfeit Postinor-2 could cause allergic reactions, organ damage, or even death.

NAFDAC urges consumers to purchase Postinor-2 only from verified pharmacies or licensed healthcare providers. Healthcare professionals and the public are advised to report any suspicion of counterfeit medicines to the nearest NAFDAC office, call 0800-162-3322, or email sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
