Shettima Slams Opposition, Alleges ADC Membership Portal “Flooded With Fake Identities”

Vice President Kashim Shettima has taken a swipe at opposition parties, accusing them of thriving on “lies and hypocrisy” while insisting the ruling APC is in a stronger political position than in 2023. Speaking at an interfaith breaking of fast at the State House, Shettima criticized the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its push for electronic transmission of votes, alleging that when the party opened its membership portal, it was “overwhelmed by an avalanche of fake names and fictitious identities.”

Citing Winston Churchill, Shettima declared: “Lies, lies, lies—that is what is driving the opposition in this country.” He urged party faithful to remain united ahead of the political season and maintained that governors defecting to the APC are doing so voluntarily. “Nobody is coercing the governors of Rivers, Delta, Kano or any other state to join the APC. It is at their own volition because they have seen the light,” he added.

Key Points:

Shettima’s allegations directly challenge the ADC’s push for electronic voting credibility.
The Churchill quote frames opposition criticism as fundamentally dishonest.
The claim of voluntary defections seeks to counter narratives of political intimidation.
The “stronger position than 2023” assertion projects confidence ahead of 2027.
The interfaith setting underscores the administration’s outreach to religious communities.

Vice President Shettima launches a blistering attack on opposition parties, accusing them of fabricating membership and peddling lies, while insisting the APC stands united and stronger than ever as the 2027 elections approach.
