The Brigade Commander of the Joint Task Force in Benesheikh, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State, Brig.-Gen. O. Braimah, has reportedly been killed in an attack by Boko Haram insurgents.
Sources who spoke with Vanguard also said many of the attackers were killed during the assault on the military formation.
A social media user, Mallam Lawa Benesheikh, disclosed this in a post on Thursday, saying the insurgents stormed the base in large numbers...READ FULL; FROM THE SOURCE.
“Innalillahi wa Inna’illaihin raji’un.
“Boko Haram has again, unfortunately, succeeded in eliminating the commanding officer of Benishiehk.
“This unfortunate incident occurred yesterday night when the insurgent stormed the military formation in numbers.
“May the souls of the fallen heroes rest in peace,” he wrote.
The Chairman of Kaga Local Government Area, Zanna Ajimi, also confirmed the killing of the brigade commander.
Ajimi said he had just visited the military base and could verify that Braimah was among those killed in the attack.
“Yes, we just left the military base now, and I can confirm to you that the brigade commander is among the casualties,” he stated.
Sources said several insurgents were also killed during the attack, although the exact number could not be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
