A renowned social media influencer and former ministerial nominee of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr Maryann Ibrahim Shettima, popularly known as Shety, has said using social media to advance Qur’anic scholarship is one of her major cardinal objectives.
Speaking at the grand finale marking the conclusion of a high profile Qur’anic recitation competition she organised in Kano weekend, the social media influencer stated that she had conceived the idea of organising the event in order to correct the negative impression bandied about on the social media for the platform to be sanitised.
She said people are living in an age where digital platforms often amplify noise, discord, and distractions. But rather than abandon these spaces, she asked: Why not reclaim them? Why not transform TikTok and Instagram from playgrounds of frivolity into platforms of faith, beauty, and reflection?
The social media guru told the gathering that she had been preaching the gospel of peace, unity and prosperity across the nation via the social media, adding that no sane minded citizen would ever love to tread the path of chaos and wanton lawlessness.
