According to a statement by Wike’s aide Lere Olayinka, commission chairman Emeka Ezeh revealed that some of the workers were employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others joined shortly before Wike assumed office in August 2023. Of 2,512 candidates invited, only 2,281 turned up, with 224 absent, fueling suspicion of ghost workers. The commission also plans to conduct 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises, in line with President Tinubu’s commitment to renewing hope for the FCTA workforce.
